Valentine's for Teachers

I am dabbling in Photoshop and I LOVE what I can do in that program. Today's assignment was to make a Valentine for my daughter's teachers. It turned out darker than I had wanted. On my computer the papers looked more burgandy, but I love it just the same. Anyone know how to calibrate a printer to match your screen?

I am still trying to figure out the whole photoshop thing... how did you learn to do everything? I need somewhere to start!

Chel--dh helped me make an invitation for my sister's baby shower. He walked me through it and I am sure I wasn't the best student. I sort of remembered what he told me and I have been playing around on it ever since.

We will have to IM one day and I can walk you through it.

Those are fabulous. My daughter's teacher gets the same thing that we are giving to all the kids...poor woman!! I am sure she would much rather have something as nice as this! I love the photo shopping. I might have to put that on my wish list!

So cute!

Jen Strange has an excellent Photoshop tutorial blog. Screen Calibration is one of the things she talks about:

YES! That's what I need. I have Photoshop and have never been able to use it. I know I should just go buy a book or something and try it out. I know I'd love it, if I could just get started somehow.
You're so talented!

Cute!!! I love your valentines cards. Those buckets are adorable and the teacher's cards are beautiful.

Re color settings: Are you using Photoshop or Photoshop Elements? In Elements you can go click Edit - Color Settings and then choose Optimize for Printing. And then you won't be given color choices your printer won't be able to duplicate. Photoshop should have a similar setting but it might not be in the same place. You might also try getting into your printer program, it should have some sort of printer specifications to set the color. But if you've tried all that it could be that your screen isn't showing true colors and you need to adjust it to match your printer output.
